Do you have a product you want to sell?
Tried to launch something in the past that hasn’t sold like you wanted it to?
Encountered a problem building your list?
One of the biggest challenges I hear from online business owners is that they feel they have something amazing to offer the world, but they just don’t know how to sell it!
First, sales are based on your clients trusting you! I once heard it described as a tease (sorry Mom, but it’s true). There is a dance. There is an element of invitation. Then relationship building. Then, once the audience knows you and trusts you, they are more willing to buy.
You build that relationship by putting out really great content.
You may currently be producing good content on social media and your website, but are still not driving sales and leads.
One of the most basic things when creating your own brand and business is to know your audience.
The best way to describe this is – Who is your target client? Once you know who your target client is, you can give them what they want! Once you give them what they want, it will show up in your sales!
Here are some tips on how to create good content and opt-ins that will convert to sales.
Get to know your audience. – Figure out where they live, how old they are, and what their interests are. Genuinely KNOW them! Where do they shop? Where would you find them on a Saturday night? What do they love? Connect with them. If you don’t know exactly who your target client is, do the research! Type in key words on social media or different search engines. Create a survey on your website. Attend events where you know your target client will also be attending. Create a very comprehensive description of who this person is. Name them. Describe them. And make sure that everything you are putting out in the world is directed at them!
Get your audience’s attention with a headline. – What is the first thing that gets you to read information online? It is always the fascinating headline! You have to capture the reader’s attention and you do it this way. Put yourself in your customer’s shoes and think about what would make you want to take a glance. Make it compelling! Make it irresistable! Make it something that they really want to keep reading to know more!

Don’t stop with a headline. The opening needs to be just as interesting. This is where your writing skills need to be on point. An alluring headline can only go so far if the content you’re writing, (especially in the beginning) is boring. Start out with a cool fact, a statistic, or a question to make the reader want to keep reading. Make sure it is something that applies to them. Start with a powerful story! Just something to make them excited to keep reading or listening!
Be helpful to your customer. – A client comes to you because they believe you can help solve whatever their problem is. Don’t talk in features. Talk in benefits! What is the benefit to your customer? Through your business, your knowledge, and your content, help your client solve a problem and engage them. Your opinion will be valued.
Make an offer. – After creating good content and engaging with your prospective client, suggest that they subscribe to your newsletter, sign up for your webinar, or download your e-book. This is called your call to action.
Make sure your call to action is easily accessible:
- On your website
- On your homepage
- At the end of your blog posts
- On the sidebars
Highlight the benefits of what you are offering and use figures for added credibility.
